I visited Croatia at the end of May and everything looks very good. I checked all controls and start and finish areas and they will provide very good frames to MWOC.
Some words about the competition terrain and maps
The terrain is very good to run and fast, but also very hilly. That is why it is also very demanding. Visibility is very good in the most parts. There are some green areas, but the course setter has planned the courses so that competitors can avoid most of those areas. There are lot of paths in the competiton area, but most of them are very hard to see because of fallen leaves. The terrain is similar in the middle distance, long and relay.
Map is done very well and it is easy to read. There have been three map makers and quality is good in the every area. There is no difference between areas made by different map maker.
The courses are shorter than they were in the Brazil because of the terrain. The competitors must be able to run fast in the some parts of course and in some parts they have to reduce speed and do more careful orienteering. All the courses have good rhythm changes; longer and shorter legs. The total climbing will be rather big in all the races

Lithuania is on the list with an option. The Orienteering President hopes to have a final answer from them within short time.
2011
Brazil won the election to organize the Military World Games. Orienteering is in the games and will as all other sports be organized in Rio.
